The Rayonnage Mural shelf was designed by Jean Prouvé year 1936 and produced by Vitra. The streamlined shape of the stone is reminiscent of the rudder of a ship and is a recurring feature of Prouv's creative work. The Mural shelving unit has two solid oak shelves that can be selected as stained or oiled oak. The shelves can be chosen in a variety of colors.
Designer Jean Prouvé was born in 1901 in Paris and is one of the most influential designers and architects of the 20th century. Considered a pioneer of the modernist design movement, Prouvé began his career as an apprentice to various blacksmiths and metalworkers. Today, Vitra produces a number of Prouvés popular pieces. These are considered design icons of the past and are as popular today as when they were designed.
