What does wellness mean to you?

– For me, wellness is about creating balance in everyday life and taking care of both body and mind. Exercise is important, but equally important is slowing down and giving myself time to recover. It can be something as simple as a cold bath, wrapping myself in a soft bathrobe, lighting a scented candle, and spending three minutes on a calming breathing exercise. For me, wellness isn't complicated – it's the small daily choices that together make me feel happy and energized.

It's better to be consistent than to try to change everything at once

Your best tips for starting a healthy year?

My best advice is to start simple and take small steps. It's better to be consistent than to try to change everything at once. Think about what feels realistic for you and start from there.

Mikaela's three best tips

Plan your week

Use a calendar to schedule workouts, meals, and tasks. Writing down your plans makes it easier to create and stick to routines that fit your daily life.

Small investments that simplify everyday life

A good kitchen tool, like a blender or food processor, can make it easier to quickly prepare nutritious smoothies and meals. It makes cooking both simpler and more inspiring.

Set realistic goals

Start with one habit at a time – like moving three times a week, exercising for five minutes a day, or eating more vegetables. Once that habit sticks, you can add more.

– The most important thing is to find routines that feel sustainable for you and give you energy instead of stress. Small steps over time lead to big changes!

What tools do you use for home workouts?

– I love doing pilates with our pilates ball and ankle weights – they make the workouts more varied and provide an extra challenge. I also try to incorporate strength training with heavier dumbbells at least once a week. It's important because we naturally lose muscle mass over time, and strength training helps preserve it – which strengthens the body and prepares it for the future.

What kitchen tools can you not live without?

– I use our blender several times a week, mainly for making smoothies – it’s truly a favorite in the kitchen.

Can you share a smoothie recipe?

– Of course! Here’s the recipe for my son’s and my favorite – a delicious and nutritious smoothie that keeps energy up all day and is perfect as a snack or part of breakfast:

250 ml coconut water

1 dl frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, or mango – we often mix it up!)

½ avocado

½ banana

1 tbsp almond butter

1 tbsp coconut oil
