Muuto is a young Danish design brand that creates with the vision of reclaiming the strong position Scandinavia had in the design world in the 1950s. “Muutos” means new perspective in Finnish and the idea of innovation is deeply rooted in the company.

Thanks to frequent collaborations with young, driven designers, exciting new, cutting-edge design is constantly being created. As a furniture manufacturer, Muuto is synonymous with Scandinavian design that challenges. It makes demands on all collaborators involved: to go out on a limb and use their imagination abundantly is a must. They produce both furniture and lighting, and prominent products include The Dots and the Stacked shelving system.

Creative collaborations and traditional design

The company was established in 2006 by Kristian Byrge and Peter Bonnen. Throughout its history, Muuto has entered into numerous creative collaborations with talented designers. Among these are Staffan Holm, Cecilie Manz, Harri Koskinen, Broberg & Ridderstråle, and Anderssen & Voll. By playing with new ideas, techniques, materials and shapes, they create innovative products. Muuto stands for the essence of Scandinavian design. Among the popular products in the Muuto range is the 70/70 table designed by TAF Architects.

The table is sturdy and modern, with simple lines. The base consists of two cast aluminum frames that form the legs of the table. The table fits well in the modern home and is both stylish and functional. The Ambit and Leaf lamps are on-trend favorites with simple shapes that are easy to include in the decor. In December 2017, US furniture manufacturer Knoll acquired the company with the aim of doubling its sales in five years. Since its launch in 2006, Danish company Muuto continued to produce furniture that, in all its simplicity, is timeless but still challenges norms and perspectives.
