The Barcelona Chair by Knoll was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 - 31 and is one of the most iconic pieces of furniture in modern design. Created through exceptional craftsmanship, the Barcelona Chair exudes elegance. The chair is upholstered with 40 individual panels, cut out and treated by hand from one piece of leather. The seat is upholstered in foam and sits on a neat, slightly curved steel frame with an x-shaped base. The steel is chrome-plated and hand-polished to a mirror finish. The Barcelona Chair is available in a choice of leathers. The Barcelona Collection from Knoll also includes a matching footstool, coffee table and daybed.
Mies van der Rohe's less-is-more approach has inspired generations of modern architecture and design. His furniture has been acclaimed worldwide, the Barcelona Chair winning the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1977.
