Nelson Cigar CrissCross Bubble is a hanging lamp by the American designer George Nelson for the brand HAY. The hanging lamp belongs to the large Nelson Bubble collection which consists of different hanging lamps and wall lamps. Nelson Cigar CrissCross Bubble from Danish HAY comes with a light coating of white fabric, like many classic lamps by the Castiglioni brothers. George Nelson, however, was very innovative when it came to the use of materials in making lamps. The idea came to him in 1952 when the designer saw an exclusive Swedish hanging lamp that he wanted to buy for his office. As this had both an overly complicated manufacturing process and a high price, he decided to develop his own interpretation instead. One day, while browsing through the newspaper, he saw how the entire vessel was covered with a protective fabric, and the very next day he had produced a prototype.
