The Holocene series is a collaboration between four recognized designers who together with the Swedish lighting brand Wästberg produced four oil lamps with the concept "Intimate illuminations" to highlight the element of fire. This is a standout from Wästberg's collection, which otherwise consists of electric lamps. They want to make use of the old tradition of oil lamps by combining it with modern design.
This variant, Holocene No.2, is designed by David Chipperfield and consists of a round plate with two rotatable wall rails according to the desired light direction. It is made of solid brass that is polished and reflects the heat light. The brass will darken over time and develop a fine patina, and to maintain the shiny surface we recommend polishing it periodically. The Holocene No.2 comes in four separate parts that are removed when refilling with lamp oil.
