Metafora is coffee table designed by Lella & Massimo Vignelli for Italian Martinelli Luce. The table was presented by its designers in 1979 at a trade fair and has since been acclaimed for its pure aesthetics and the choice of materials where every detail serves its purpose.
The geometrical figures, the cube, the cylinder, the pyramid and the sphere, were created with historical references and form the base. They stand freely and can be placed freely to create different effects under the solid clear glass top. The base is available in four material choices with stone. Choose to have all figures in white Carrara, black Marquinia or sandblasted Travertine or in a mix of four different stones. In the latter version, the cylinder is in Travertine, the cube in Marquinia, the pyramid in Carrara and the sphere in brown Rasotica.
