The Barcelona Stool from Knoll was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 and complements the lounge chair in the same series. Barcelona is created through exceptional craftsmanship and exudes elegance. The cushion is upholstered with foam and covered with 16 individual panels, cut and hand-treated from a single cowhide. It sits on a slightly curved frame with an x-shaped base. The piece is chrome-plated and polished by hand to a mirror finish. The Barcelona Stool is available in a choice of colors. The Barcelona collection from Knoll also includes a lounge chair, daybed, and coffee table.
Mies van der Rohe's less-is-more approach has inspired generations of modern architecture and design. His furniture has been acclaimed around the world, with the Barcelona Chair winning the Museum of Modern Art Award in 1977.
