Poet Sofa is one of Finn Juhl's most iconic pieces of furniture. The sofa was first presented in 1941 during the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition and is now relaunched by the House of Finn Juhl. The small 2-seater sofa is upholstered in either fabric or sheepskin and has legs made of either oak or walnut. The comfortable sofa has a relatively thin upholstery that really stood out from the norm at the time of its launch. The reason was that Finn Juhl wanted to create a functional piece of furniture for smaller apartments. Poet Sofa is closely related to Pelican Chair, which was launched the previous year at the same furniture fair and can therefore be combined with each other.
The name Poet Sofa, or Poeten, was given to the sofa long after it was launched. In 1959, when a popular Danish cartoonist named Jørgen Mogensen drew the series "Poeten og Lillemor" for Politiken magazine, he depicted a young poet who often lay on this very sofa and reflected on life's events.
