PK24 is a lounger designed by Poul Kjærholm for Fritz Hansen in 1965. PK24 is often referred to as the Hammock chair, a name Kjærholm himself coined to emphasize the technically advanced construction of the design. Kjærholm also demonstrates his talent for designing furniture with free-standing parts. The main elements of the chair are not physically joined together, but are held in place by gravity and friction, so that the user's body weight is stylishly balanced between two points. The seat rests on a satin-brushed stainless steel frame and has an adjustable headrest held in place by a stainless steel counterweight. The PK24 comprises several leathers. PK25 is also available in rattan. The inspiration behind PK24 comes from the Rococo period and a classic French chaise longue.
