The 3130 Grand Prix chair from Fritz Hansen was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 and launched the same year at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen during the Designers Spring Exhibition. Later that year, the chair was exhibited at the Triennale in Milan, where it won the Grand Prix for the show's most outstanding work. Since then, the chair has been known by the same name. The 3130 Grand Prix comes with a seat in colored ash veneer and has neat legs in a variety of colors. The chair is also lightweight and stackable. The shell is available in several different types of wood and colors to choose from. If you wish to order a combination of seat and leg colors that we do not offer here, you are welcome to contact our customer service who will help you.
Like Arne Jacobsen's Myran and Sjuan, Grand Prix is also made of pressed veneer. Each chair's shell is created in one piece, consisting of nine layers of veneer and two layers of Indian cotton that are pressed into its correct shape over steam. This gives the chair a comfortable flexibility. The chair is available in several different designs, with or without upholstery, and with steel or wooden legs.
