Feathers Rug Freeform comes from the artistic collaboration between Maarten De Ceulaers and the manufacturer cc-tapis. The rug is handmade from a wool and silk blend in dimensions of 150 x 320 cm, but also comes in the model Feathers Rug Round.
The inspiration for the rugs comes from illustrations created by John James Audubon and John Gould, which De Ceulaers has used and combined with his own way to create new abstract motifs. To achieve the high level of detail in De Ceulaers' work and to bring the digital artworks to life, the highest quality Tibetan hand knotting is used, with approximately 250,000 individual knots per square meter. Different levels of handcrafting are used to create a sense of depth, with an emphasis on the shapes of the feathers that give the collection a fine and rich texture.
