57.14 is a ceiling lamp from Bocci designed by Omer Arbel in 2013. The lamp has 14 pendants that hang in a random configuration; the height is fixed at 300 cm. The irregular shape of the lightbulb comes from a manufacturing process in which air spaces of different sizes are captured in a larger glass mass and take the form of a rain cloud. The dark gray glass makes the air pockets invisible when the lamp is switched off, but once illuminated, its interior comes to life and expands into a small universe. Each lightbulb measures approximately 10-16.5 cm in diameter and is made by hand, making each one unique in proportion, size, and shape. 57.14 is horizontal, which means the pendants are hung from the ceiling mount with a thin braided metal cable. For example, they can be placed around a corner or at different distances to create the illusion of suspending gravity. The lamp comes with a round white lacquered ceiling bracket.
