The Eames RE Plastic Side Chair PSCC is a desk chair designed in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra. The seat is made of plastic and comes in several different colors. It is mounted on a base consisting of five chromed steel legs with wheels. The Eames RE Plastic Side Chair PSCC is a stylish chair and with its minimalism it suits many different types of desks. The Eames couple's multifunctional Plastic Chairs were first introduced at the "Low Cost Furniture Design" design competition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1950. Charles and Ray presented organically designed plastic chair seats that were combined with different bases, which gave these chairs a multitude of different functions and served different purposes. Today, the legendary Eames RE Plastic Chairs are manufactured by Vitra with a revised design and choice of materials for even higher seating comfort and quality. Since 2024, the shells of all Eames Plastic Chairs have been made of one hundred percent recycled plastic. The recycled plastic comes from the collection of plastic packaging from German households, in the “Yellow Bag” collection program, and is of premium quality. Using recycled raw material instead of petroleum-based primary plastic means that climate-damaging emissions are significantly reduced, as is primary energy consumption. The shell is of course recyclable at the end of its product life.
