The Eames RE Plastic Armchair RAR is a rocking chair designed in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames. The plastic seat has been mounted on a steel and maple wood base. Choose from several versions of the seat and chassis.
The pair of Eames multi-functional Plastic Chairs were first introduced at the Low Cost Furniture Design competition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1950. Charles and Ray presented organically designed plastic chair seats that were combined with different bases, giving these pieces of furniture a plethora of different functions and purposes. Today, the legendary Eames RE Plastic Chairs are manufactured by Vitra, who have revised the models' design and materials for even higher seating comfort and quality.
Since 2024, the shells of all Eames Plastic Chairs are made from one hundred percent recycled plastic. The recycled plastic originates from the collection of plastic packaging from German households, in the "Yellow Bag" collection program, and is of premium quality. Using recycled raw material instead of petroleum-based primary plastic means that climate-damaging emissions are significantly reduced, just like primary energy consumption. The shell is of course recyclable at the end of its product life.
