Akari 75D is a shoji paper pendant lamp by Vitra designed by Japanese–American artist and designer Isamu Noguchi in 1951. Shoji paper is made from the bark of the mulberry tree and is stretched over steel wires to create the delicate shape of the lamp.Akari 75D is part of the Akari lamp range, a range of luminaires all designed by Noguchi and made by hand by Japanese craftsmen. Noguchi's work is artistically linked to abstract expressionism and his design style came to have a major influence on 1950s design.All the light sculptures in the Akari range are embossed with a logo representing the sun and moon, reinforcing the authenticity of each product.
