Akari 24N is a table lamp from the Vitra brand designed in 1951. The lamp is made by hand and consists of shoji paper with a steel frame. The paper comes from the bark of mulberry trees and contributes with a soft, atmospheric lighting. The Akari series is designed by the Japanese-American architect, sculptor and designer Isamu Noguchi. Noguchi's work is characterized by abstract expressionism with a design language that had a great influence on design during the 1950s. The light series Akari is inspired by traditional Japanese design and consists of a total of over 100 luminaires that include floor, table and ceiling lamps. Akari 24N is also available in the larger size Akari 25N.
