A playful icon in time
As B&B Italia re-launches Mario Bellini's multi-award winning Le Bambole range, the timeless design becomes even more environmentally conscious and comfortable. Celebrating 50 years, the playful collection proves that Bambole is as relevant today as it was when it was created.
In 1972, B&B Italia introduced Le Bambole to the world. At the time, they were known as C&B. The collection was introduced as a series of large cushions arranged in an almost random way, in line with the democratic style movement of the early 1970s. At the time of its launch, Bellini attracted a lot of attention for having created an informal piece of furniture with a playful, inviting shape that was sensitive to the needs of the time. The company's hallmark was polyurethane upholstery, which gave Bambole a swelling and embracingly generous shape.
The new generation Bambole, however, is designed with recycled materials, including recycled polyethylene and PET. The new materials have resulted in a piece of furniture that can be disassembled and recycled - circularity at its best.
Over the years, the design has also evolved and now includes: the Bambola armchair, the Bibambola two-seater sofa and the Bamboletto double bed. In addition, the three-seater sofa has been updated to meet today's needs, with a deeper seat that has earned it the name Granbambola.
Bambole means dolls in Italian and Bellini describes the different pieces of furniture as parts of a family when he talks about how he feels about the renewal of the series:
– The fabric feels your skin when it comes into contact with your hands, your arms, your body and that encounter is extremely pleasant.
Another exciting addition is the Manila fabric, a dreamy and romantic floral pattern characterised by large roses in a classic style, an unusual contrast that gives each Bambola an unexpected outfit. The fabric is available in a limited edition on a white or black base.
Le Bambole can also be dressed in high-quality Kasia leather, an extremely soft and natural full grain leather. Here too, the touch and the look, an upholstery that gives each Bambola a very elegant and refined look.

In Scandinavia, we are used to the fact that there are several flexible shelving systems and storage solutions to choose from, where different parts can be used to customise something that covers all everyday needs. Many people have grown up with shelving systems such as String or Elfa, which have achieved their popularity thanks to an extremely well thought-out design, good choice and relatively easy assembly. However, it is all the more difficult to get a shelving system to suit everyone's needs in terms of different styles, which therefore leaves plenty of room for competition.
