In the borderland between lighting design and product design we find the Gem pendant light from Italian Foscarini. Gem was developed by designer couple Ludovica and Roberto Paloma in 2017 through an experimental process, where the structure of the oxygen-etched glass comes from sound waves. This gives the sphere-shaped pendant an interesting structure that differs from specimen to specimen, making Gem a unique and expressive pendant with subtle details.

Gem is available with three different LED lightbulbs, two of which are dimmable and one non-dimmable. The retrofit version has a classic E27 base, and the others have a modern COB lightbulb. Hang Gem over the dining table, in the hallway or in the living room where it spreads rich warm white light in all directions. It comes with a cable with a total length of 3.4 meters from ceiling to lamp and a ceiling fixture. Gem is also available as a table lamp in a matching finish for those who want to create a unified look for their interior.

In late 2019, Foscarini launched new colors for the Gem pendant. In a call to decorate with creativity, they developed a gold and a graphite gray version for the Gem, Rituals, and Gregg collections. Here they also took the opportunity to offer the pendant with MyLight, which when connected allows the pendant to be dimmed directly on the mobile via Bluetooth and Casambi.
