The assembly process alone makes this shelf worth every penny. In fact, no tools were required. It's also damn good looking, which is a bonus. I had a hard time deciding if it could stand on its own without being attached to the wall and it works, but it is not stable enough and will not be a stool for a child or a longer dinner party. So you need to use the brackets that came with it, but there is also a thought behind these and I just used ordinary construction glue to attach them to my concrete wall - an impractical person can solve this installation. In my case, it was enough to use two out of four brackets and set at the second highest shelf level.
