Pyramid is a shelf created by Shiro Kuramata for the Italian brand Cappellini. The shelf has a transparent structure made of acrylic. Pyramid has a total of seventeen leaves made of black acrylic and comes in different sizes from the bottom to the top in a pyramid-like shape. Shiro Kuramata was a Japanese designer who founded the Kuramata Design Office in Tokyo in 1965 and is one of the most prominent Japanese designers in the world.
Shiro Kuramata's designs proved to be important in Western design, first in Memphis and then in Cappellini in 1987. Kuramata's designs can be seen in numerous museums around the world such as the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, MoMA in New York, the Metropolitan Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in Toyama.
