Bosa
The Italian brand Bosa was established in 1976 by Italo Bosa in Borso del Grappa, located in the Veneto region. Bosa chose to locate its ceramics production there because of the area’s ceramics traditions and the nearby town of Asolo with its history of pioneering architectural art.
Craft tradition and innovation are the cornerstones of the company, experimenting with the potential of ceramics to create new interpretations, functions and creative worlds. Bosa uses a rich color palette of custom shades, decorative metals and colors to create a unique design idiom. The brand strives to create ceramic design elements that are unique, recognizable, and of high quality.
Traditional craftsmanship creates a unique design idiom
Bosa makes all its ceramic vessels by hand. When making the design objects, plastic molds are used to shape the ceramics; the objects are taken out of the molds and the final details are added by hand to ensure accuracy. Once the ceramic is dry, it is put into a lime kiln several times. The lime kiln glazes and improves the appearance of the surface and gives the ceramic its fine quality. The glaze for these objects is composed of the same clay, giving the item a unique color palette.
The design objects are decorated with metals such as gold, platinum, and copper, and the ceramics are handcrafted by artists. Founder Italo Bosa has passed on his craftsmanship and innovative designs to his daughters, Francesca and Daniela, his wife, and everyone he works with, with a focus on quality and innovative design.
The Bosa brand is today an internationally successful ceramics company with a distinguished workforce. It is based on sharing its knowledge and research with young and European designers in order to explore new design possibilities and interpretations and to increase the dissemination of product design. Bosa also collaborates with many emerging designers; the first collaboration was with designer Marco Zanuso Jr. Since then, relationships have developed with designers such as Satyendra Pakhalé and Patricia Urquiola. The brand also has a significant collaboration deal with designer Jaime Hayon. Bosa collaborates with manufacturers such as Minotti, Moroso, B&B Italia, and has produced designer ceramics for Ferrari and Escada.
