57.7 is a ceiling lamp from Bocci designed by Omer Arbel in 2013. The lamp has seven pendants meant to be suspended in a random configuration; the height is adjustable to a maximum of 300 cm. The irregular shape of the light comes from a manufacturing process in which air spaces of different sizes are filled into a larger glass mass and take the shape of a rain cloud. The thick glass makes the air pockets invisible when the lamp is switched off but illuminated, it expands into a small universe. Each lightbulb measures approximately 10-16.5 cm in diameter and is made by hand so that each one is unique in proportion, size, and shape. The 57.7 is horizontal, so the pendants are suspended from the ceiling with a thin metal cable. For example, they can be placed around a corner or at different heights to create the illusion of suspended gravity. The lamp comes with a round ceiling mount in brass.
