Akari 70EN is a pendant lamp from Vitra designed by the Japanese-American artist and architect Isamu Noguchi in 1951. The lamp is made by hand in shoji paper, paper made from the bark of the mulberry tree, and is held up by a steel wire structure. Akari 70EN is part of the Akari lamp series, a series of lamps designed by Noguchi and hand-made by Japanese craftsmen. Noguchi's work is artistically linked to abstract expressionism and his style came to have a major influence on 1950s design. All light sculptures in the Akari series are marked with a logo representing the sun and the moon, which confirms the authenticity of each product.
