Libreria Pensile was originally designed in 1957 by legendary designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Over the years its design has been developed to perfection and today Danish company Karakter produces the shelf. The bookcase comes in two finishes, with shelves in clear lacquered oak or black lacquered ash.
When the Castiglioni brothers created Libreria Pensile, they wanted to create a bookcase with as simple a design as possible. They designed a shelf consisting of two cables that support the shelves with knots and that fix the shelf to the wall in a single point. Although over 60 years have passed since the bookcase was first presented, Libreria Pensile remains just as relevant today with its modernist design.
