The design icon PK22 from Fritz Hansen was designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1956. The armchair was the breakthrough for Kjærholm's career on the international design scene after it won the Grand Prix at the world's leading design fair, the Triennale in Milan. When the armchair was introduced, it was an immediate success. The seat and back are made in one piece and come with full upholstery in a selection of leather, suede and canvas in different designs. The seat rests on a thin base of bent, satin-brushed spring steel. PK22 is also available with a seat in braided rattan.

PK22 is an elegant and sophisticated armchair, an excellent example of Poul Kjærholm's talented craftsmanship. The design is based on Kjærholm's previous degree project, PK25, at the Copenhagen School of Fine Arts. Many similarities can be seen in the design expression. The armchair is a favorite of ours at Nordiska Galleriet, largely due to its neat, stylish shape and its incredibly high level of comfort. We are happy to furnish with PK22 in our exhibition together with Kjærholm's other classic furniture.
