The German brand Erpa was founded in 1928 by Josef Rhode. The very first product was the so-called Rhode-Patron, a metal container with a sealed lid and pedal mechanism needed in hospitals to safely and hygienically store waste and stop the spread of infection. The company patented the innovative product, which was crucial in choosing the company name.

Elegant rubbish bins of the highest quality

The family business has retained its old manufacturing traditions and still produces all its products in the small workshop in Westphalia in northern Germany. Yet since 1997, when the current owner Jörg Sachse, a relative of the founder, took over the company, the focus has been exclusively on producing the classic 1950s dustbin in the highest quality.

All Erpa products are designed in a classic shape with great attention to detail. They are made to order and then assembled by hand. Each dustbin is therefore a solid piece of craftsmanship in sheet steel. The sheet metal is primed inside and out and coated with synthetic resin paint. Lower edges are protected by plastic to ensure maximum stability. The bin lids are made of stainless steel polished to a high lustre. This makes the material resistant to wear and tear and resistant to corrosion. The lids close quietly and automatically thanks to foam rubber seals and durable return springs. The bin's foot pedals come in non-slip rubber for practical use.
