Andreas Engesvik glassware

Andreas Engesvik is one of the most prominent Norwegian designers in modern Scandinavian design. His work is characterized by minimalist and functional creations with a clear Nordic aesthetic. Throughout his career, Engesvik has created an impressive range of furniture, lighting, and interior objects that blend tradition and innovation.

After studying art history at the University of Bergen and completing a master's degree in design at the National College of Art and Design, he founded the design studio Norway Says in 2000. Many of the studio's products have become modern classics, created at a time when the Scandinavian, and especially Norwegian, design scene was mostly known for its furniture icons from earlier eras. 

Collaborations with international brands 

Since 2010, Engesvik has successfully run his own studio, Andreas Engesvik Oslo, where he focuses on long-term collaborations with international brands. Among them are Iittala, Muuto, FontanaArte, Asplund, and Fogia. Engesvik works in various design fields, from furniture and tableware to industrial design. An example of his versatility is his collaboration with HAY, where he designed a toothbrush, and his work with Fogia, where he designed the popular Bollo armchair and the light Tiki sofa. These Fogia pieces are typical of Engesvik's design philosophy, where comfort and aesthetics meet in harmonious combination. Through his collaboration with Fogia, Engesvik has not only created iconic furniture but also continued to put the Norwegian design scene on the world map. 

In addition to his creative work, Andreas Engesvik is committed to promoting Norwegian design and supporting young design talents. He has been teaching and serving as a guest professor at Konstfack in Stockholm since 2012, contributing to inspiring a new generation of designers. Engesvik's contributions to the design world are not only about creating beautiful and functional products but also about building a bridge between Norwegian design tradition and the international market.
