The British design brand Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by Josiah Wedgwood, 29 years old, in Burslem, England. Wedgwood experimented extensively with clay and explored its many possibilities. Today, more than 260 years later, he is remembered as the "Father of English Potters" and his innovative thinking and commitment to providing the highest standard of quality remain at the heart of the brand today.

Timeless British design since 1759

Wedgwood's serving ware has long been served by the world's various royal families and heads of state. It all began when Queen Charlotte ordered a dinner service set and was so taken with it that Josiah Wedgwood was given permission to call the service "Queen's Ware" and himself "Potter to Her Majesty". Since then, the products have been served at the tables of several British monarchs and famous heads of state in places such as the Vatican, the Kremlin and the White House. In 1995, the design brand was awarded "The Royal Warrant" by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of supplying products to royal households for at least five years.

Since 1940, Wedgwood's factory in Barlaston, England, has combined modern technology with ancient craft traditions. All expert knowledge is preserved through a robust apprenticeship programme where Wedgwood apprentices train for up to 10 years to become master craftsmen. All to meet the growing global demand for Wedgwood's exclusive signature products.
