Standard SP is a dining chair designed by Jean Prouvé for the design brand Vitra. SP stands for Siège en Plastique and the chair is an updated version of Jean Prouvé's classic Standard chair. Without compromising on form, it is made of robust plastic and the seat and backrest come in a variety of colours. Jean Prouvé realised that the greatest load is on the two rear legs of a chair, and then designed the Standard chair but with significantly stronger rear legs. The two front legs are therefore thinner and are subjected to the least load.
