Standard is a contemporary design classic, designed by Jean Prouvé and produced by Vitra. The frame is available in a variety of colours to choose from. Designer Jean Prouvé realised that the greatest stress is placed on the two rear legs of a chair and subsequently designed the chair with significantly stronger rear legs. The two front legs, which are the least stressed, are made of thinner steel tubes and the rear ones are made of thicker metal sections. The chair has become a modern classic and a design icon.
