Cité is a lounge chair designed in 1930 by French designer and engineer Jean Prouvé. The lounge chair is generously designed with a base of curved steel plate in different shapes depending on preference. Characteristic of the model is that a band of leather runs along the sides of the armrest. Cité has a comfortable neck cushion that is height-adjustable. It is available in several colors in either fabric or leather.
The Cité model was originally designed for students living at the Cité Universitaire in Nancy. Vitra incorporated the model into its collection and began producing it for private homes, and Prouvé himself used this comfortable lounge chair in his own home.
