Michael Anastassiades lighting accessories

Michael Anastassiades was born in 1967 in Cyprus, where he grew up, and has become one of the great names in lighting design in modern times. Anastassiades set up his studio in London in 1994 after completing a master’s degree in industrial design at the Royal College of Art.

In Sweden, he was brought into the limelight when, in a collaboration with Svenskt Tenn, he interpreted Josef Frank's work, which was produced in a limited edition. Anastassiade's big break came in 2014 when he presented the hugely popular IC Lights series from Flos. The following year, the equally popular floor lamp Captain Flint was launched, the same year as the table lamp Copycat.

Anastasia's great role model was his father's good friend, Neoptolemos Michailides, a renowned Greek architect. The driving force behind his designs is minimalism, and his early lamps inspire conversation, participation and interaction. Anastassiades has attracted international attention, with parts of his work on permanent display at MoMa in New York, MAK in Vienna and the FRAC Centre in Orleans, among others.
