Falcon Phoenix Lowback is an armchair from LK Hjelle, designed by Sigurd Resell in 1971. This chair, inspired by the "hanging island", is known for its unique construction that provides excellent freedom of movement and exceptional seating comfort. Resell, with a solid background in cabinetmaking, studied at the Wood Department of Norway's Husflids- og Kunstindustriskole between 1943 and 1947. He is credited with designing some of the most influential furniture of the post-war period, particularly known for his design work in steel. The armchair has an interesting history, beginning when Resell participated in the Industrial Council's furniture competition "En möbel" in 1970 and won second prize with the Blankvals armchair. This chair, later renamed Falcon, has since established itself as one of the most prominent Norwegian furniture icons, appreciated for its distinctive design and comfort.
