Fri Form furniture

Fri Form is a Swedish brand known for its exclusive and timeless terrace furniture. The company was founded by designer Elsa Stackelberg and her husband Benny Stackelberg in the early 1960s. They ran their production from a barn at Stensnäs Manor outside Västervik, where they also lived. Elsa's creativity and aesthetic sense became the basis for the company Fri Form, and it was when Prince Bertil discovered her first reclining chair at the Norrköping exhibition NU64 that her career as a furniture designer took off.

Clean lines, no frills

Elsa, who was responsible for the design of the furniture, engaged deeply in discussions with the designers to realise her ideas. She was adamant about aesthetics and beauty, and accepted nothing less than the highest quality. In her designs, she favoured clean lines and simplicity, without any unnecessary frills.

More than 50 years after its founding, Fri Form continues to manufacture Elsa Stackelberg's iconic furniture designs. Since the 1990s, Fri Form has been in the hands of the Gustafsson family in Halmstad.
