Here Comes the Sun is a hanging light produced by the French brand DCW éditions. The creative form was created in 1969 by the architect Bertrand Balas. The lamp is made of aluminum and is shaped like two hemispheres, linked by a concave inside that can be placed in different shapes. The lightbulb in the lamp emits two different types of light because of the split sphere, a directional light, and a more subdued light.
The name of this ceiling light hints at where the inspiration for it comes from. Balas designed it based on the light from the sun, moon, and sunrise. Similarly, George Harrison of the Beatles was inspired to write the song Here Comes the Sun the same year. When Balas launched the pendulum lamp a year later, he initially thought it would be impossible to call the lamp the same thing, believing that the Beatles would never go along with it. The lights are not on.
