All BOBO glasses are individually handcrafted and therefore have a completely unique expression. Thanks to the extra durable glass mass of lead-free crystal, the glasses can be created with an ultra-thin rim between 0.5 and 0.8 mm. All glasses are dishwasher safe.

Handmade crystal glasses with leaf-thin edges

The glasses are designed in Stockholm, Sweden and mouth-blown by master glassblowers in Shanxi, China. The place is famous for its glassblowing and since the early 1920s the local workshops have specialised in just that. The knowledge and experience of working with glass for generations is evident in the quality of the sensationally thin glass.

Mouth-blowing glass is the oldest and most classical method of making glass. It is a painstaking and complex process that requires both expertise and time. BOBO glass is made by the glassblower first placing molten glass mass into one end of a blowpipe. The blowpipe is then gently rotated and the glass is blown into a mould. While the glassblower is doing this, the correct temperature must be maintained and the glass filled with air. The glass is then reheated and the glassblower works on the mould further. In the next step, the glass is cut away and the edge is ground. Finally, the vessel is heated one last time and the shape of the glass is defined to perfection.
