In the small Italian village of Omegna, Alfonso Bialetti set up a workshop for the production of aluminium products in 1919. The business quickly grew to become Bialetti & Co, a design and production studio for the creation of aluminium products directly for customers.

A revolutionary invention – Moka Express

In 1933, Alfonso Bialetti comes up with the brilliant idea for the Moka Express coffee maker. In the same year, the first brewer is produced and the Italian company quickly establishes itself as one of the leading manufacturers of coffee machines. The Moka brewer is named Moka after the town of Mokha in Yemen, one of the most important coffee producing areas in the world. Moka Express revolutionises the way coffee is made and quickly becomes a staple of Italian cuisine.

The brand is quickly established through various communication campaigns, including the pencil drawing by Paul Campani in 1958. The drawing depicted a small man with a moustache. The figure came to be known as l’Omino con i baffi (The Mustache Man) and became a symbol of Bialetti as a brand. Today, the little man adorns Bialetti products and is part of the brand's logo.

Today, a Bialetti Moka coffee maker can be found in the majority of Italian households. The brand has also broadened its range, and in addition to the Moka Express, there are now several different models of coffee maker to choose from. Varumärket also offers milk frothers, pans and other coffee accessories. Common to all products is the characteristic contemporary design and Bialetti's love of coffee, which is reflected in the function and quality of the products.
