The flower pot Riihitie Plant Pot is a creation of Artek, designed by Aino Aalto around the year 1937. This pot had its first place on the terrace of the Aalto family at their residence on Riihitie street in Helsinki. The design reflects Aalto's belief that even the smallest details deserve our care and attention, just like the larger objects. Although the pot was shown during the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, mass production of it never began. On the occasion of Finland's 100th anniversary in 2017, Artek relaunched these pots in the two original designs. These pots are made by hand in ceramic, and the material is chosen with inspiration from the tiles that Alvar Aalto often used in his architectural works. The pots are offered in three different sizes intended for indoor use and are available in the colors white and blue. These colors are taken from the ceramic tiles that adorn the facade of Aalto's summer residence on Muuratsalo Island in Finland.
