The Tabouret 307 from Vitra was designed in 1951 by Jean Prouvé. The stool was inspired by a tractor seat in its shape. In this version produced by Vitra, the seat is made of solid oak and the legs are made of metal. The legs are equipped with plastic anti-slip pads. Jean Prouvé was born in 1901 in Paris and is one of the most influential designers and architects of the 20th century. Prouvé is considered to have been an advocate of the modernist design movement and began his career by being an apprentice to various blacksmiths and metal furniture makers. Today, Vitra produces a number of Prouvé's popular furniture. These are considered timeless design icons and are as popular today as when they were designed.
