Lilla Åland Stol Kulör is is a cane chair designed by Carl Malmsten for the Stolab brand. The former chair is available in either solid oak or beech and can be called the stick chair of stick chairs, Carl Malmsten's most popular and beloved piece. Although the Lilla Åland Stol Kulör can be perceived as simple in form, its soft design and turned pegs make it a well-crafted chair and a standout among the Swedish furniture classics of the 20th century. Lilla Åland Stol Kulör fits into many different environments and is very comfortable thanks to the hollowed seat.
The inspiration for Lilla Åland Stol comes from Finströms Kyrka på Åland, where Malmsten held a sledgehammer course in 1938. From the carpenter's hand-painted chair, he produced the seven-cornered design, which was then adapted for production at Stolfabriks AB in Smålandsstenar, as Stolab was known at the time. In 1942, the Lilla Åland Stol was given its original design, which it still has today. There is also a matching cushion in three colors to match the Lilla Åland Stol äpa. The Lilla Åland series also includes an armchair and two childrenås chairs.
