The French brand Pillivuyt was founded in 1818 by Jean Louis Richard Pillivuyt and has since then offered a wide range of high quality porcelain in an elegant and timeless design. Pillivuyt initially bought an old brick factory in the heart of France with the aim of producing porcelain particularly well suited to the French kitchen and its well-to-do bourgeoisie. Five years after Pillivuyt was founded, the brand won its first design prize and in 1854 the founder's son, Charles Pillivuyt, built a new factory located in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, 25 miles south of Paris. To this day, it remains an important location for the design brand, as a large proportion of the details are still made by hand there.
One of the world's oldest and most recognised porcelain manufacturers
Right from the start, Pillivuyt's philosophy was to create porcelain that would last generation after generation and meet the highest standards in terms of function, durability and aesthetics. The handmade porcelain is made of feldspar porcelain with a high content of feldspar and quartz. The material combined with a hard glaze makes it suitable for both oven and microwave and can be moved directly from the freezer (-30 degrees) to the oven (+350 degrees). It also makes it resistant to shocks and impacts. All Pillivuyt porcelain is designed with a stamp at the bottom, which guarantees that the product meets the brand's requirements.
