Aurelien Barbry

Aurelien Barbry is an internationally recognized designer known for his minimalist and functional works. His work focuses on combining aesthetics with functionality, where each object is carefully designed to be both beautiful and useful in everyday life. 

Aurelien Barbry 1969 

Aurelien Barbry was born in 1969 in Paris and has a background in both architecture and product design. After working as a project manager for the award-winning architect Jean Nouvel between 1997 and 2006, he founded his own design studio in Paris in 2007 and later in Copenhagen in 2008. Today, Barbry lives and works in both Copenhagen and New York, where he continues to develop his unique design philosophy. Barbry is often inspired by the simple forms of nature and strives to create objects that simplify daily life without compromising aesthetics. With a deep understanding of both form and function, he has developed a unique style that combines Scandinavian minimalism with French elegance. 

Barbry and Georg Jensen 

Throughout his career, Aurelien Barbry has collaborated with several internationally recognized design houses, including Georg Jensen, Fritz Hansen, and Normann Copenhagen. One of his most well-known works is Plank 144, a garden bench designed for Fritz Hansen. With its simple and sleek design, inspired by the idea of planks, Plank 144 combines a minimalist aesthetic with practical functionality. The bench is an elegant addition to any outdoor space. 

His collaboration with Georg Jensen has resulted in a series of elegant and functional objects, including the sleek Sky collection. The collection includes a range of products for serving and bar use, including coasters, cocktail shakers, wine openers, and carafes, all designed with Barbry's signature: a sculptural form that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

His creations reflect his pursuit of simplicity and functionality, making his designs both timeless and modern. Plank 144 for Fritz Hansen and the Sky collection for Georg Jensen are two examples of his ability to combine sculptural forms with functional design.
