The modern and stylish Chair 66 was created by Alvar Aalto in 1935 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. Today it is an icon of the past and as modern now as it was then. The chair, like many of his paintings and works, has become part of the collection of the Modern Museum of Arts in New York. Alvar Aalto wanted to create a chair with a high back for extra comfort, which also gives chair 66 a distinctive and individualistic design. As in many of Alvar Aalto's other works, his signature is clearly visible in the slightly curved legs in an L that are joined to the back.
Chair 66 is made of molded beech and is available in a variety of different tones for the seat and back. Choose between natural beech, white laminate, or black linoleum. If you have questions about other finishes, please contact the store and we will help you.
