The 402 modern table created by Alvar Aalto in 1933 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. This chair is reminiscent in its shape and lines of the iconic Tank 400 but is designed to be a more lightweight and wet version. Its molded beam frame is Aalto's signature, and its beautiful shapes are reminiscent of several of his other organic-shaped models. The flexible wood makes the 402 exceedingly comfortable.
The 402 is made of molded beech, the seat comprises spiral springs and foam and the back is padded and foamed for extra comfort. The sloping chair is available in a variety of finishes with legs in clear lacquered beech or black lacquered beech and with seats in different fabrics.
