The Wassily Lounge Chair from the Knoll brand was designed in 1925 by Marcel Breuer. Just like Breuer's Laccio Table, Wassily is also one of the great design icons of the 20th century and together they form a stylish lounge group. The chair has a frame made of bent steel tubes. The seat and backrest are available in several variants to choose from.
Marcel Breuer began experimenting with bent steel tubes at the age of 23 while he was an apprentice at the Bauhaus. He had just bought his first bicycle and was fascinated by the bicycle's optimal design, with a frame of bent steel tubes that had barely changed in decades. Taking inspiration from the bicycle's frame along with influences from the De Stilj movement, Breuer had the idea for a chair with a visible steel frame without joints.
