The Nockeby dining table was initially designed by architect Sven Markelius (1889-1972) for his own house in Stockholm in 1930. The house was one of the first Swedish functionalist residential buildings to be built in the then unusual material of reinforced concrete, and attracted attention not only in Sweden but also internationally. The dining table was centrally located in the house and was at the center of conversations about everything from the emergence of the Swedish folk home to the emerging modernist world architecture. Guests included such greats as Alvar and Aino Aalto and Le Corbusier.
The table meant a lot to Markelius and followed him throughout his life; first when he moved to the radical collective house he designed on John Ericssonsgatan in Stockholm in 1935, and ten years later to the villa in Danderyd, where he lived until his death in 1972. The NO GA collection also includes Markelius' iconic Orchestra Chair. Nockeby is available in three different finishes: Rosewood, Walnut and Oak.
