Cassina celebrates the master of modernism Pierre Jeanneret

Cassina pays tribute to Pierre Jeanneret's design with a number of new launches on display at Nordiska Galleriet.

Cassina is launching four iconic pieces of furniture by Pierre Jeanneret in brand new designs as a tribute to the master of modernism, while supporting a research project on Le Corbusier's historic Capitolium project in Chandigarh, India. Nordiska Galleriet is the first in the world to present it in our showrooms in Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Le Corbusier's grand architectural project, the Capitolium, in Chandigarh, India, is considered one of his greatest works and represents his ideology, technique and poetic language. The project was initiated in 1951 to celebrate the nation's independence and Le Corbusier was asked to participate by the then Prime Minister of India. It gave him a unique opportunity to test his theories in architecture and urban planning, which he did together with a group of architects, including his cousin Pierre Jeanneret. Le Corbusier's Capitolium, an impressive complex of three government buildings, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016, and since then interest in the project has grown.

Editorial Splash 1 - Cassina hyllar modernismens mästare Pierre Jeanneret

Cassina has been producing furniture by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand since 1965 - when the creators were still alive - and has always had a strong commitment to their work. This is why Cassina is now supporting an extensive research project on Chandigarh, as part of its I Maestri Collection. The aim of the research – promoted by the Fondation Le Corbusier in collaboration with France's top institutions – is to preserve, strengthen and inventory this unique heritage.

The opportunity to explore the archives and study the interiors of the Capitol has now resulted in a new series of furniture inspired by the iconic architect and designer Pierre Jeanneret. By combining pure forms and simple materials, Pierre Jeanneret created a meeting point between modern European ideals and Indian tradition. Cassina celebrates his design with a number of new launches showcased at NO GA.
