In The Sun 380 Wall is a wall lamp designed by Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost for the French lighting company DCWéditions. The wall lamp has a round base of steel and aluminum and is available with a finish in either gold or silver. The base holds a glass dome and a unique shade made of a metal mesh in either stainless steel or brass reflects the light. In The Sun 380 Wall is the largest variant of wall lamps in the In The Sun series in terms of size. In addition to two further smaller variants, the collection also includes table lamps and pendant lamps in various designs.
The idea for In The Sun 380 Wall and the other luminaires in the series was born in connection with the renovation of the Pavillion Dufour at the world-famous palace in Versailles. Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost wanted to create a lighting series as a tribute to Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King. The result was a series of lamps that are all characterized by luxurious shades in gold and silver and that contribute a magical atmosphere to the home.
