Lindsey Adelman

Lindsey Adelman was born in 1968 in New York and is an American designer. Adelman first discovered design while working as an Editorial Assistant at the Smithsonian Institute. She then graduated with a degree in industrial design from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in 1996.

After graduation, Adelman began a successful collaboration with David Weeks. The duo designed, among other things, the Lunette lamp, which received a Design Destinction Award at I.D.'s Annual Design Award in 1999 and an Editor's Choice Award at ICFF. In 2017, the sculptural and personal installation The Edge of What We Know was shown at Design Miami and became a success. Adelman's designs have been shown at the prestigious Salone Del Mobile in Milan several times and in 2017 new works from Adelman's prominent collaboration with Nilufar were exhibited at the design fair.

In 2006, Adelman started his own design studio which has since grown to a team of 20 people. All luminaires are built in Adelman's NoHo studio, together with her team and selected local craftsmen. She is inspired by structures in nature and the popular Branching Bubble is an example of this. The hand-blown chandelier consists of raw materials such as hand-blown glass, porcelain, brass, bronze, leather and wood. Adelman's work has been shown at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Design Miami and Nilufar Gallery, among others. Adelman's work is sold by Brooklyn-based Roll & Hill, among others.
